‘Farmers are used to something from us’
Vollenbroek realizes that the pull request also affects forty personal farmers. “But they are used to us,” he says.
“If ranchers were too close to the Natura 2000 area and kept expanding, they were looking for problems themselves,” Wösten says. “They could have predicted that would happen.”
The nitrogen crisis started in 2019 after a decision by the State Council. The case that the country’s highest administrative court ruled next was filed by the MOB. Even after that, the environmental organization won several lawsuits over nitrogen.
