Awesome Games Done Quick has raised over $2.6M for charity Games News

The Awesome Games Done Quick multi-day running event raised nearly $2.7 million for charity this year. The money will go to the Cancer Prevention Foundation. The event can be followed live and will be held again fully online in 2023.

A total of 39,872 donations were made During the AGDQ 2023 event, which occurred between January 8 and 15. A total sum of $2,666,868.41, approximately €2.47 million, was raised. The highest donation this year was $100,000. The amount will be donated to the Cancer Prevention Foundation.

Many world records have been broken during the event this year. For example, the Any% speedrun record in Super Mario Galaxy 2 is set at 2 hours, 52 minutes, 51.33 seconds. Broken by Jhay. The previous world record was 4.4 seconds higher. New world records have also been set in games like Powerwash Simulator and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

The AGDQ has been held every year in January since 2010, followed by a summer edition later in the year. During the events of Games Done Quick, video games are being played as fast as they can for days by many fast racers. Last year’s event raised a record $3.4 million for the Cancer Prevention Foundation.

The organization’s next event, the Done Quick 2023 Summer Games, will take place between May 28 and June 4. This event is expected to take place virtually and not exclusively online. This summer, $3.01 million was raised for Doctors Without Borders last year.
