Behind the undefeated TCU, the Big 12 race is very crowded. The top two teams in the league advance to the championship game, and Kansas State, Texas, and Baylor are seeded 4-2 in team play. Despite that, K-State lost to Texas last week, so the Wildcats really need to go to Waco and win Saturday night. Meanwhile, Baylor has quietly racked up three straight wins together after a two-game losing streak that opened in October. The Bears took care of Kansas and Texas Tech before going to Norman for a win over Oklahoma last week. Kansas State is a step up from the competition for Baylor, who won the Big 12 title last season.

While the implications of the Big 12 title also play into this game, the stakes are much higher for the TCU. The Horned Frogs, now 9-0 all year round, climbed to fourth in the CFP rankings on Tuesday night. To get to this point, TCU has won many tight games. In fact, six out of nine wins are decided by 10 points or less. And many of these gains came from the effort. This thorny action may explain why the two-horned frogs are a seven-point underdog in Austin on Saturday. Texans have been viewed favorably by forecast makers throughout the season. The visit from Alabama was the only time the Longhorns were underdogs of the year. But UT has not always adhered to these bills. Texans enter this game with a 6-3, although all three of those losses came with one possession.
