NASA wants a permanent base on the Moon by 2028
The Artemis program extends beyond the manned lunar missions of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Apollo program became known through Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon. For the Apollo program, the astronauts performed lunar walks and rover rides on the lunar surface, among other things.
NASA said in 2019 that it wants to build a permanently manned base on the Moon by 2028. The knowledge the organization gains in this way should contribute to manned space travel to Mars.
