Najib Amhali’s joint fundraising campaign for Morocco has raised 900,000 euros so far. This was stated by the Moroccan-Dutch comedian in a special program on Friday evening Together for Morocco Draw attention to the earthquake that struck the country.
Shortly after the earthquake, Amhali started a fundraising campaign in cooperation with the organizations Najiba Foundation, Winning Wells Foundation and Winning Wells Morocco. A total of six trucks loaded with materials have now headed to Morocco.
Broadcast on NPO1 channel showed images of trucks being loaded. Items included tents, mattresses, beds, flashlights, medical supplies, sleeping bags, generators, and diapers.
In the special broadcast, well-known Dutch people appealed for donations via Giro 6868. Through the broadcast on NPO1, BNNVARA and VPRO want to support the Dutch-Moroccan community in the Netherlands. There was music by Numidia and Nick Schilder, and at the table were comedian Najib Amhali, Rotterdam Mayor Abu Taleb, and actor and writer Aby Shalghoum.
Mosques also raised money for Morocco on Friday. For example, there was a charity evening in Leiden, organized by the Imam Malik Mosque and the Al-Hijra Mosque. More than 20 thousand euros were collected for earthquake victims. Next Friday, mosques will hold a second charity evening to raise funds.
