The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Paris have been canceled due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “We now have to be very careful,” the organization said.
The awards ceremony was scheduled to take place on November 5. The event has now been postponed until November 2024.
“Given the events, we have decided not to move forward with the EMAs. We must be cautious due to the thousands of employees, artists and fans who will be traveling from around the world to attend the event,” the organization wrote in a statement. It is shared across US media.
“It should be an annual celebration of world music. As we watch devastating events continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for global celebration.”
Renee Rapp, Sabrina Carpenter and Jung Kook of K-pop band BTS, among others, were expected to perform at this year’s music awards. The MTV EMA Awards have been presented annually since 1994.
The Cairo International Film Festival has also been postponed. on Instagram The organization stated that the Minister of Culture decided to postpone the forty-fifth session. A new date has not been announced yet.
