A court has held a Taiwanese man responsible for injuring a doctor who was frightened by a parrot. The report stated that the man was sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of 90,000 euros BBC and taiwanese central news Tuesday.

The man had taken his pet outside at the end of 2020. In flight, the animal landed on the back of a doctor who was running nearby.

The doctor was so afraid of the large bird, 40 cm long with a wingspan of 60 cm, that he fell to the ground. He broke his pelvis and dislocated his hip.

The doctor sued the parrot’s owner because he was unable to work for months after the accident. According to his lawyer, as a plastic surgeon, he often has to stand for long periods of time during operations, which is no longer possible due to his injuries.

The Taiwanese court ruled that the owner was negligent. His parrot is considered a “big animal” due to its size. So the man had to take extra precautions.

Parrot owner resumes. He privately believes the prison sentence is disproportionate and argues that his animals are not aggressive. Nothing is known about the fate of the parrot itself.
