Vikings ask to interview Monte Osenfurt for a General Motors job

After seven names appeared in Minnesota VikingsLook for a replacement Rick Spielman as General Manager on Wednesday and early Thursday morning we can add an eighth name to the list as well.

I asked the Vikings Tennessee Titans For permission to interview Monti Ossenfort for the position of GM with the team. Osenfurt is currently the Vice President of Football Operations for the Titans.

Osenfurt is the frontrunner for a Vikings job with some serious “one of us” energy, as the quarterback was at the University of Minnesota Morris during his college days and was even a Vikings training camp apprentice back in 2001. He started his career in the front office as a scout scout with Houston Texas In 2002, he joined New England Patriots As a personnel affairs assistant in 2003, he returned to Houston in 2004.

Osenfurt then rejoined the Patriots in 2006 as an area explorer, slowly making his way up with their organization, eventually rising to the position of Director of Scouting in 2014. In total, Osenfurt spent 15 years with the Patriots before moving on to join the Titans as Personnel Manager in 2020 and being promoted to As Vice President of Football Operations last year.

Just like Ryan Poles, whose name came up for the job yesterday, Ossenfort was one of the finalists for the World Cup. Carolina PanthersGM’s job was out last season but was passed over in favor of Scott Fetterer.

The list of candidates for General Motors Vikings job vacancy continues to grow, and as more names emerge, we will continue to bring them to you here.
