Once again, Alphabet makes more profits with Google Cloud, and Google Ads also continues to grow – IT Pro – News

Alphabet once again generated much greater profits with Google Cloud last quarter. Despite this increase, ads in search and other Google services remain key to increasing revenue.

Google’s parent company generated approximately $76.7 billion in the third quarter of 2023, which represents an 11 percent increase over the same quarter last year. Profits also rose significantly, by more than 40% to just under $19.7 billion Quarterly figures.

Alphabet gets the majority of its revenue from advertising revenue, or ads displayed in Google search. By comparison, Google Search and other services brought in more than $44 billion last quarter, while ads on YouTube and Google Network totaled less than $16 billion. YouTube ad sales volume rose about 11 percent last quarter. The video platform began testing new ways to detect ad blockers last summer, though that’s unlikely to actually be reflected in these quarterly numbers.

The largest increase in sales volume was achieved by the Google Cloud division. Thus, Alphabet achieved a profit of $8.4 billion, which represents an increase of about 22 percent compared to the same quarter last year. This doesn’t change the fact that Google’s revenue from cloud services has increased less nearly every quarter since Q2 2021.

AI development group Google DeepMind posted a loss of $1.7 billion last quarter. This section has recently been included separately in the quarterly figures, whereas previously it belonged to the Google Services category.
