CD Projekt RED latest next generation upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Cyberpunk upgrade is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, while the upgrade to The Witcher 3 is slated to arrive in the second quarter.
CD Projekt RED announces postponement on Twitter. There, the company says the two releases have been delayed due to “recommendations from the teams overseeing the development of both games”. The company has not yet provided specific release dates for the two updates. “Our target for Cyberpunk 2077 is Q1 2022 and Q2 2022 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the company wrote. “We apologize for the long wait, but we want to do it right.”
I mentioned early September CD Projekt RED said it plans to release upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 this year. Then the company spoke of a “target date” which is “end of 2021”. Next-gen upgrades will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, S, and PC. This means that both games must take full advantage of the computing power of existing consoles. For example, The Witcher 3 upgrade should add visual and ray tracing upgrades to the game. The Projekt RED CD has not yet shared any specifics about the Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020 for PC and consoles and was widely criticized for bugs and performance issues. Since then, the developer has made several major hotfixes and updates. The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 and was well received by critics and fans of the franchise. Next-gen upgrades will be available for free next year.
