Microsoft has released the first Windows 11 beta with an update for Notepad, which supports tabs in English. Last month an employee revealed that the position was coming up.
There will be a setting that allows users to decide if they want to open new files in a new tab or in a new window, Microsoft says. With this said, it doesn’t seem like the company necessarily enforces the use of tabs. It is also possible to drag tabs and open them as a new window.
In addition, there will be keyboard shortcuts for managing tabs in Notepad. Microsoft does not specify what these are and how they work. Tabs are in Notepad build 11.2212.33.0, which Windows Insiders can see in the Dev Channel with the latest update.
According to Microsoft, tabs support was the most requested feature of Notepad. Microsoft employee revealed last month By mistake the tabs in Notepad were coming up. In 2017, there was talk of Notepad, Explorer and Office It will already get tabs in Windows 10. This did not materialize.
