iFixit: Apple Studio Display camera module almost identical to iPhone 11 – Computer – News

Repair company iFixit has published a teardown of the new Apple Studio Display. In it, the camera module from the screen is compared with that of the iPhone 11 and attention is paid to the thin internal power supply. The company has not submitted the degree of repair yet.

After separating the display panel from the housing, the IFixit team removed the webcam module from the Apple Studio Display. Didn’t score well in the reviews† The team placed the in-display camera module along with the iPhone 11 and stated that the two parts are very similar. The team then also referred to the display’s power cord, which Apple claims is not user-removable, a decision that has already drawn a lot of criticism.

iFixit noticed that the fans are large and the studio monitor’s internal power supply is very weak. Then they indicated the cutouts that Apple made in the internal power supply of the capacitors, as well as the separate sections of the part itself. If Apple opted for an external power supply, the casing might be nearly as thin as an iMac, apparently. After the internal power supply, the soc was disassembled with the A13 chip. We also find this part in the iPhone 11.

The studio monitor speaker system sticks well according to iFixit. According to the company, the large amount of glue that was used to glue the various speaker parts is not inconsequential. It seems that “vibrations in the speaker system are a big problem”.

Apple made a studio presentation beginning of March† It’s a 27-inch screen with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels that achieves a brightness of up to 600cd/m². The screen houses a 12-megapixel webcam, microphones, a six-piece speaker array, and an A13-soc. The latter is used for webcam displays, built-in microphones and speakers.
