(ABM FN-Dow Jones) More new single-family homes were sold in the U.S. in December than in the previous month. This emerged from data from the US Commerce Department on Thursday.
The number of new single-family homes was up 8.0 percent on a monthly basis to 664,000 units for the year. In November, sales fell 9.0 percent.
The average sales price in December was $487,300.
On a year-over-year basis, the number of homes sold in December rose 4.4 percent. And in 2023, 668,000 new US homes were sold. This is 4.2 percent higher than in 2022.
