American actor Cuba Gooding Jr has made his first admission in a sexual misconduct case that has haunted him for years. Gooding admits that in 2018, he accepted an employee without asking him at a New York nightclub. Several other women also accuse Gooding of sexual assault.
The actor, who won an Academy Award for his role in Jerry Maguire (1996), also apologized to some of the victims. These apologies are part of a settlement that would allow him to avoid a prison sentence, US media reports.
MeToo . movement
Gooding, 54, said in a statement that he never wanted anyone to feel uncomfortable with his touch. He is accused of sexual misconduct in New York nightclubs in 2018 and 2019. He allegedly grabbed a woman by her breasts “as if I were a piece of meat for dinner”. He was going to pinch another woman’s buttocks. Gooding has only admitted to unwanted kissing.
At first, the actor refused all accusations. His lawyers said that “enthusiastic plaintiffs pushed themselves away from the MeToo movement”; They would have turned normal behavior into a crime.
Gooding was also accused of raping a woman in New York in 2013. There is a separate case against him for this. The actor disputes these allegations.
