Xbox has announced Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The game will be released for consoles in January 2023. Age of Empire IV will be released for consoles later in 2023.
X-Box Announces Also immediately announces the release date of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The game will be released on January 31. No specific date has been set for Age of Empires IV yet, but Xbox is only stating that the game is “coming later in the year.”
The announcement was made to mark the 25th anniversary of Age of Empires. The first game was released in 1997. The second part originally appeared in 1999, but was later reworked and is now released as a definitive version with dozens of updates and downloadable content. The Xbox version will also get all the additional content that is also available for PC.
