WhatsApp is said to be testing a feature to use its app on multiple phones. In the app, the user does not register a phone, but instead connects the device to a device that already has WhatsApp.
Linking desktop devices to WhatsApp has been possible for some time, but that possibility now also comes from the application itself, WABetaInfo Claims. The feature is for some users in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, 2.22.24.18. Not all test users see the job right away.
If an app is compatible, then on the screen where users usually enter their phone number to register, it is possible to tap on the option to link device instead. Then WhatsApp works on that phone with a different phone number. The option is supposed to be called the “companion mode”.
For example, the function is useful for people who have a second phone for work, for example, but do not want a second account with WhatsApp and want to chat from a number. It is not known when the feature will come in the stable version. This usually takes a few weeks to months after the Meta affiliate starts testing a feature.
