the huge Veenhoop will celebrate its 70th edition this year on July 29, 30 and 31 and August 1. Under the motto “The Best 70 Years of Veenhoop”, a program has been achieved that combines the best from abroad (Status Quo and The Dublin Legends) with the best from Holland (Di-rect and Miss Montreal) and the best from the Fryslân pool (including De Hûnekop and Johannes Rypma) together.
All bands have played at De Veenhoop before and have been among the crowd favorites over the years. With its 70th edition, the Veenhoop Festival is now part of the Frisian cultural heritage. Traditionally, the festival is held during the beginning of the northern construction holiday.
This year’s Friday evening kicks off with Status Quo. They are still an incredibly popular band. The organization still regards the previous performance of Status Quo as one of the highlights in the festival’s 70-year history.
On Saturday evening she will play Miss Montreal and Direct. Both need simple explanation; It is the pinnacle of Dutch festival business. Over the years, Sundays (starting at 3pm) has grown into one big event with a very diverse program. This year with the best Tribute teams (ABBA Fever and the Dirty Daddies), Frisian teams (Hûnekop, Doelleazen and Bountyhunters) and a few more surprises.
