US imposes new sanctions on Russia and increases support for Ukraine

US has announced new economic sanctions against Russia. Economic activities affect banking, mining and arms industries. At the same time, the United States announced that Ukraine would receive nearly 1.9 billion euros in additional military aid and a multimillion-dollar package to strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The latest sanctions are among the largest issued by the US since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The package targets more than fifty high-ranking Russian officials, including ministers, governors and regional leaders. Europeans suspected of supplying and supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine should also be targeted by the measures.

Washington imposes new visa restrictions on more than 1,200 members of the Russian military, including officers. US tariffs on more than 100 metals, minerals and chemicals from Russia are being increased.
