Transport Online – Emirates and United implement code-sharing partnership to improve connectivity to the US

AMSTERDAM – Emirates and United have implemented a codeshare partnership that will give passengers of the world’s largest international airline easier access to a wide range of US destinations. From March 30, Emirates passengers will be able to fly to three of the country’s biggest business hubs: Chicago, Houston or San Francisco. You can easily connect to an extensive network of domestic points in the US on United-operated flights.

With the launch of codeshare flights, Emirates passengers bound for the US can now expect access to 150 US cities in the United network via three gateways.

Expansion for American travelers

Travelers in the United States who want to travel to Dubai and beyond can also use a wide selection and services of United. This allows for easy transfers to flights from Emirates to Dubai via Chicago, Houston or San Francisco. The world just got bigger for American travelers heading to the Middle East, Africa, Asia or Australia with access to more than 80 destinations in the Emirates network outside of Dubai.

On board the flights, passengers can enjoy Emirates’ award-winning services and a host of convenient travel benefits offered through the codeshare agreement. Passengers on Emirates codeshare itineraries can plan their entire trip on a single ticket and take advantage of Emirates’ generous baggage allowance. Plus, convenient continuous baggage check-in to the final destination.

Partnerships and benefits

The partnership extends to both the airline’s frequent flyer programs, Skywards and Mileage Plus. This allows eligible members to enjoy rewards when traveling on Emirates or United flights, as well as lounge access at airports across both airlines’ networks if they join codeshare flights.

The codeshare partnership opens up many popular destinations accessible from three gateways: Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Minneapolis and Phoenix. For example, Emirates passengers planning trips to places like Detroit can fly direct from Dubai to Chicago or Houston and easily transfer to a United flight at the final destination.

Positive development

Adnan Qasim, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates, said: “We are delighted to execute this historic codeshare partnership with United and significantly expand our brand in the US. United’s extensive network in the U.S. enables us to offer more choices to our passengers around the world, meeting the needs of various segments, now efficiently connecting them to a vast network of 150 domestic destinations.

“In the second phase of our partnership, we look forward to extending the same convenient travel benefits to our passengers flying to other destinations in the US,” Kasim continued.

Interline Agreement

Emirates and United have an interline agreement that allows passengers to easily reach a wide range of destinations in the US, outside of the US. Passengers can choose from 77 destinations in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.

Emirates currently offers service between its hub in Dubai and 12 US cities and five points in Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
