The world prepares for Queen Elizabeth’s final farewell Royal family

World leaders and kings say goodbye

On Sunday, a number of world leaders and kings have already bid farewell to Elizabeth’s coffin. Among others, US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, the royal spouses of Belgium, Spain and Sweden, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska entered Westminster Hall through a private entrance.

World leaders and members of the royal family also attended a reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday evening, which was hosted by Charles. There, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Princess Catherine, the wife of Prince William.

The reception was attended by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix. They landed at London Luton Airport on Sunday and will attend the state funeral on Monday.

Two thousand people will attend the funeral at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday, including about five hundred world leaders.

Some leaders were not invited to the funeral, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman drew criticism. Saudi Arabia is now sending another emir in place of bin Salman: Turki bin Muhammad Al Saud.
