The second controversy over Britain’s Conservative leadership election ended early because broadcaster Kate McCann fainted during the broadcast. The debate was organized by The Sun newspaper and the British channel TalkTV.

The broadcast stopped midway through when candidate Liz Truss spoke of British support for Ukraine. In the middle of her answer, a loud explosion could be heard in the background. “Oh, my God!” Trus cried, stunned. Shortly thereafter, the broadcast stopped and was never resumed.

According to TalkTV, McCann is doing fine, but the doctor advised against continuing with the broadcast. The show was actually supposed to be presented by two people, but one of them was unable to participate due to a positive corona test.

According to the organization, nominees Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak stayed in the studio to speak to The Sun readers, who were invited to the discussion.

A day earlier, they also had a debate, and then on the BBC. This controversy in particular showed a deep split within the Conservative Party over the succession to Boris Johnson. British media, such as the BBC, now write that the tone of this debate has been more conciliatory.
