Software update: WingetUI 1.7.0 – Computer – Downloads

WingetUI logo (79px)WingetUI version 1.7.0 has been released. This software makes it easy to find, install, update, and uninstall software packages. However, WingetUI is only a GUI, because it is implemented under the hood by WinGet, Chocolatey, and Scoop, which by default only run via the command line. The software is open source, can be used in many languages, including Dutch, has a dark theme and provides notifications when new versions of installed software are available. The changelog for this version looks like this:

New features:

  • A new interface is available to ignore updates. allow:
    • Pin packages
    • Skip copy of the package.
    • View and remove individual packages from the blacklist
  • The Package Details window contains a new section that allows for installation customization:
    • All options are within a collapsible widget
    • User can modify:
      • The architecture to be installed
      • Installation environment (user or machine, local or global, etc.)
      • The version to install (packages can be automatically blacklisted upon installation, so older versions are not updated when manually installed)
      • Custom parameters to be passed to the installer. There is now a text box to be able to do this
    • The Command naming has been improved to adapt to new options and toggles.
  • Notifications have been reworked:
    • Notifications will now display buttons on them, for easy access to quick actions.
    • Notifications can now be enabled/disabled by their category.
  • A new, integrated pop-up share has been implemented in the system
  • Administrator preferences have been reworked:
    • Package managers can be upgraded automatically.
    • The user has the option to cache admin rights.

  • WingetUI interface has been improved:
    • Context menus contain more options and are more organized
    • Toolbars display more relevant actions, removing some of the redundancy with context menus
    • Scrolling has been improved, featuring:
      • Mouse scroll smoothly
      • Better support for keyboard scrolling
      • Back to top buttons
    • The launch popup window has been improved.
    • TreeWidgets StyleSheets has been improved to use the available space in the window more efficiently
    • Transparency has been reworked across the interface, in a way that the interface is now more responsive
  • Chocolatey support has been improved:
    • Installs will no longer display a 20-second delay
    • More information is available in the details window
  • Scoop support has been improved:
    • Packages are now cached, so load times are significantly faster.
    • More information is available in the details window
    • Error handling has been improved for already installed updates.
    • Auto-rising on uninstalls has been improved
  • Winget support has been improved:
    • Packages are now cached, so load times are significantly faster.
    • Error handling has been improved for already installed updates.
    • “Unknown” updates are now handled correctly (thanks to the new version skip feature)
