Software Update: GNU Emacs 29.3 – PC – Downloads

With this kind of bullshit, you are literally nearly 4 decades behind the times. Please read on Liberator’s war.

By the way, anyone who likes Emacs but prefers vim bindings can just use evil mode.

And anyone who prefers a modal interface to the bone is probably better off with neovim these days.

By the way, it’s worth noting that the Emacs of decades ago are and are not the same Emacs as they are today. On the one hand, it basically works in exactly the same way, and on the other hand, there are countless innovations such as all kinds of Tree-sitter-based modes (making them rely on a convenient set of lexicographer/parser instead of regex, which are not limited to on fits better in terms of the model and therefore provides better syntax recognition, but is also much faster), supports async and threaded code, Elisp code can now be compiled to native code (making Emacs as a whole much faster), idd Magit which is easily better git currently exists, supports loading shared object files (aka dynamically linked libs), and the list goes on.
These kinds of things keep me on Emacs, in my experience (and yes, this is personal) there is nothing like it.
