Samsung and Apple gain a share in the smartphone market at the expense of Chinese brands – tablets and phones – news

Samsung and Apple gained share in the smartphone market last quarter, at the expense of Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo. That Analyst Canalys Inc. reports. They owe it to the latest versions.

For Samsung, it’s about its new 2022 lineup that includes the Galaxy S22 and new mid-range models, while Apple is capitalizing on the popularity of its iPhone 13 models, Canalis says† Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo could not continue, presumably due to the recent release of models worldwide. The brands have released many attractive phones in their home country, China, but the global release of phones often follows those brands later.

The entire market shrank by 11 percent compared to the same period last year. According to the analyst firm, this is due to a global shortage of chips, which appears to be driving prices higher. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has also fueled economic uncertainty among consumers, as has the ongoing Corona pandemic.

Canalys is an analyst company that tracks smartphone shipments. Strategy Analytics, IDC and Gartner do this too. Analyst firms rely on data from retailers, suppliers, and manufacturers, among others. Many manufacturers have not published accurate numbers on smartphone deliveries for years, so analyst estimates are the only concrete numbers for the smartphone market.
