Nintendo Switch may be able to hack the original PlayStation Vita games – Gaming – .Geeks

Developer Sergi Granelli claims to have found a way to play PlayStation Vita games natively on the Nintendo Switch. While he hasn’t played any PS Vita games on the Switch yet, he thinks he might be able to in the future, without emulation.

One first version The tool was put online by Granelli on his GitHub. Reverse narrow Let Granelli know it’s a “proof of concept,” which very little can do. He has not yet been able to play any official PS Vita games on Switch with his device. Right now, he was only able to test a few light beer games.

The tool is especially notable, because it does not emulate games, but runs them locally. The tool translates software written for the PS Vita’s ARMv7 processor into the Nintendo Switch’s ARMv8 processor. This makes it more like a compatibility layer, with which programs can run on another operating system, according to Granelli.

However, there are still some hurdles to overcome before you can play real PS Vita games on your hacked Nintendo Switch. For example, according to Granelli, it is not yet possible to translate shaders from a PS Vita graphics processor to a Nintendo Switch processor.
