On May 27, the Supreme Court rejected a petition seeking the revocation of a preliminary injunction against former Minister Jimmy Morales, which was raised by the Ministry of Public Works (MP).

In the resolution, by a majority, the judges of the CSJ rejected the request without mentioning it, in which the MP. Pointing to arbitrary and illegal actions, Ivan Velasquez, the former head of the International Commission, declared that a person is unpopular with sentencing in Guatemala (SIC).

This Friday, July 23, the Ministry of Public Administration announced that it would not challenge the resolution issued by the CSJ because “they will carry out new investigative procedures to determine whether this creates a new approach.”

“The MP felt it was necessary to take new precautionary measures to strengthen the practical exclusion of the file considered to be relevant, from the content of the CSJ judges’ disagreement and the consistent fair vote.”

The CSJ’s resolution said that Justices Maria Eugenia Morales, Sylvia Garcia and Delia Devila voted against the request for a preliminary ruling by the prosecutor’s office against the MP’s corruption.

The MP said it was necessary to prosecute Morales, now a member of the Central American Parliament, for unilaterally expelling Velasquez without consulting the Council of Ministers. Considered.
