Marcel & Gijs start a new talk show in the Today Inside studio: "It still smells like Wilfred in here"

“It still smells like Wilfred Jenny,” Marcel tells Giggs. Gijs then refers to the “quarrel” Marcel last had with the VI trio of Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen.

“I didn’t sign up, I was there,” says Marcel. “I didn’t get into a fight, I was there. It was just a ‘greengrocer’ thing.” René and Marcel in particular got into an argument over the pseudonym René gave Gijs Groenteman.

“Shall we go to our own group?” Giggs finally questions Marcel. The gentlemen then move into their talk show studio Marcel and Giggswhich is similar to their NPO offering within the media.

Then sits down at the table is Jan Slager, with whom Marcel and Giggs have had “a thing” on several occasions. “Something happened sometimes,” notes Omroep boss MAX, who then unpacks the culture of canceling in the Netherlands. For example, it is believed that big names like Matthijs van Nieuwkirk, Tom Ejbers and Frans Klein were punished too quickly and harshly. VVD MP Thierry Arts is also a guest star on the first episode.

In previous conversations, Marcel and Giggs have mentioned that they don’t expect much from their talk show. They even said about it: “We are allowed to fail.” You can see what else they have to say about it in the video below.
