Google will launch its own smartwatch in the fall | right Now

Google competes with the Apple Watch. At its annual developer conference I/O, the company announced that the tech giant will launch its own smartwatch in the fall.

The Google Pixel Watch was developed mostly by Fitbit, the smartwatch company that came into Google’s hands in early 2021. The watch can be used for digital payments, Google Map navigation, and incoming message notifications. The smartwatch works with a voice-activated assistant that is also present on many Android phones.

Many have already seen Google’s acquisition of Fitbit as a move to come up with an answer for the Apple Watch. Apple controls about 30 percent of the smartwatch market. Samsung tracks about 10 percent of the market share, with the rest split between Fitbit, Garmin and smaller Chinese operators, according to market researcher Counterpoint Research.

In addition to its smartwatch, Google is also releasing a tablet in the Pixel line. The company previously also ventured into tablets, but stopped production in 2019 to focus entirely on laptops.

The company also revealed that it is working on smart glasses, which will automatically display translations to the wearer. The glasses are somewhat similar to Google Glass and digital glasses with a camera and a small screen that appeared on the market in 2012. This product did not become a huge commercial success.
