Google Home works with more devices
Users can also make more complex modifications using a special code form. This is very similar to the more advanced settings of the Dutch competitor Home Assistant.
According to Google, the updated app also supports the new Matter protocol, making it easy to connect devices regardless of manufacturer. Many Google gadgets will also receive an update for this, so you can, for example, connect a Nest thermostat with Apple’s Home app. As long as the device supports Matter, it will soon be able to “talk” to the Home app.
The new application will appear through a special preview program. Users can sign up and help with the test, after which the new Google home page will be made available to everyone at a later time.
Also a new router
The tech company also revealed a Pro version of its current Nest Wifi routers. You can connect it to your modem to achieve faster WiFi. The cost of the new Nest Wifi Pro is 220 euros. For a package of two copies you pay 329 euros. The router will go on sale on October 27.
The Pro router supports the WiFi Wi-Fi 6E protocol, which, according to the tech giant, can achieve speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps. The gadget may use a faster 6GHz frequency, which has recently been allowed to be used by routers in Europe.
According to Google, the router covers an area of about 120 square metres. The network system used allows multiple routers to communicate seamlessly with each other to cover a larger area together.
