Dell refreshes XPS 15 and 17 laptops with Raptor Lake CPUs and RTX 40 GPUs – PC – News

Dell has refreshed and shipped XPS 15 and XPS 17 laptops with i5, i7, or i9-generation Raptor Lake CPUs and RTX 40 GPUs. The most expensive versions will be available starting March 7. Less powerful laptops will be available later this year.

The XPS 15, with the model name 9530, can be equipped with an i5-13500H CPU with twelve compute cores and a clock speed of 4.7GHz or an i7-13700H with a clock speed of 5GHz. The fastest processor the XPS 15 can be configured with is the i9-13900HK with fourteen computing cores and a maximum clock frequency of 5.4GHz. Laptops come with memory ranging from 8GB to 64GB, which, with the exception of 8GB, is two modules. Memory is in all models of the DDR5 variant with a speed of 4800MT/s.

Unlike its predecessor, the laptop no longer has an integrated GPU. The device is instead available with an Intel A370M GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 memory. There are more powerful options as well; These are the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 with 6GB of GDDR6 memory, the RTX 4060 with 8GB of memory, and the RTX 4070 with 8GB of memory as well. The tgp of the Nvidia gpus is set to 40W.

When it comes to storage, customers can choose from four M.2 PCIe SSDs: a 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB version. In terms of the screen, nothing has changed compared to previous XPS laptops. Dell supplies the laptops with a 15.6-inch LCD or OLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 or 3840 x 2400 pixels respectively, all screens have a maximum brightness of 400 to 500 cd / m² and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The XPS 15 laptops have a fingerprint scanner, three USB Type-C ports with one port supporting USB 3.2 and two supporting Thunderbolt 4, a 3.5mm port, and an SD card slot. The laptops measure 344.72 x 230.14 x 18 mm and weigh 1.86 to 1.92 kg. Both models have a battery capacity of 86Wh. There’s also a 720p camera on board, the speakers and amplifier have 8W peak power and there’s support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The XPS 17, dubbed the 9730, has the same i5, i7, or i9 soc as the cheaper model. However, it is possible to equip the laptop with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 GPU with 12GB of GDDR6 memory. These graphics cards also have 60W of power, 20W more than the XPS 15. The memory and storage option is the same. The 17-inch screen is available as a 1920 x 1200 pixel version without a touch screen or as a 3840 x 2400 pixel version with a touch screen, both displays have a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m².

Where the XPS 15 gets three USB Type-C ports, the XPS 17 comes with four of those ports. They all also support Thunderbolt 4. Other specs are the same, only the XPS 17 gets a larger 97Wh battery and the laptop measures 374.48 x 248.08 x 19.5mm. The device weighs from 2.31 to 2.44 kg.

The top-of-the-range XPS15 will be available from March 7th at a price of €3,342, including VAT. The most expensive model is initially only available in the most expensive version from 3,852 euros. Cheaper configurations with less powerful hardware won’t be available until later in the spring. Exact pricing and availability will also be announced at that time.
