Chelsea 1-3 Real Madrid, Champions League: Post-match reactions, ratings

Well, the good news is that there are no away goals in this year’s competition. We can defeat this team. Just have to play is not terrible.

Chelsea started well, with plenty of energy and momentum, but then with a bit of a defense reminiscent of the end of last week gave Karim Benzema a free header to open the scoring.

Then, just two minutes later, Karim Benzema did Karim Benzema’s performance, and suddenly we were 25 minutes behind on the clock, and suddenly things looked a lot worse.

Chelsea, to our credit, returns to the match, also reclaiming a goal on the scoreboard, as Kai Havertz scored before the first half.

But the second half started in tragic circumstances, as Benzema awarded us a hat-trick. Chelsea tried to recover at least one goal before the end of the 90 minutes, but to no avail. We had some chances, some very good, but we lacked the desired finish.

So, Real Madrid takes advantage with two goals in the second leg next week.

With peace of mind.

  • Azpilicueta alternates at left-back, otherwise a 3-4-3 would have been expected from Tuchel. Four-back after the half, with Azpi at left-back.
  • Make a double change at the half, then another double change after the hour mark. Don’t do much with either.
  • Consecutive losses in all competitions since the end of September
  • Next: Southampton away on saturday
  • KTBFFH
