A good solution: never lose your keys again, or at least find them more easily. You can do this with Bluetooth trackers, for your key ring, but also for your wallet, bag or anything else you don’t want to lose.
You like to buy the best product, logically. “Best” is of course an opinion, and in this case our opinion. With Bright Stuff, we base that “best” on our experience and flair. This time: Bluetooth trackers. Useful things for a few tens of euros can save you a lot of panic and trouble. Let them beep to find your keys, or see on a map where you last put your bag with you.
The best choice for Apple users, although there are also excellent alternatives on this list that use the same Apple Find My network. This means you can also find your AirTag from a distance: if you drop your keys out of your pocket at the station, they can still reach you via someone’s iPhone passing by — and you don’t have to do anything. All iPhones form one large search network, which AirTags can use to pass their location to your iPhone, even if you’re not nearby.
AirTags have an excellent speaker to indicate their location. And it has a very wide range: With modern iPhones, you can see exactly in which direction you should be looking and how far away you are from your AirTag. The AirTag’s button cell battery lasts about a year and is easy to replace. Biggest flaw: Apple’s white plastic/metal tablets don’t have a hole or ring. If you want to attach an AirTag to something, you have to buy an additional item, on top of the €39 that a single AirTag costs – or €129 for four. They can sometimes be found cheaper through online stores, especially in packs of four.
Samsung’s SmartTag is to AirTag what the iPhone is to Galaxy phones. In other words: If you have such a Galaxy, the SmartTag 2 is an excellent choice. Here too, the search network is a trump card: Galaxy phones are the best-selling Android devices of all time, so there’s a good chance that someone with such a phone will walk past your lost keys if you drop them somewhere.
The SmartTag 2 also uses a replaceable button cell battery and, unlike the AirTag, simply has a built-in ring: very easy to use. The price is similar: the recommended retail price is €39.95, although they can also be found cheaper in some online stores.
Tile
The tool that started this category. Tile still makes excellent trackers, in many shapes and sizes. It’s attractive to all iPhone and Android users, but especially to Android users who don’t have a Samsung. Tile also has its own search network. This is made up solely of other Tile users, so it’s much smaller than Apple and Google’s networks – but it’s there.
Tile has different options, such as the handy Mate at €25 for key rings, the larger Pro at €35 for bags, the Slim at €35 for wallets, and the sticker, for example, under your bike saddle, at €45 for two. The starter pack with Mate and Slim is available for €45.
Babylipie clip/card
This wallet-friendly tile is great fun. If you use an iPhone, the Pebblebee card is a good alternative. A little cheaper, and also works with Apple Find My. Same network as AirTag, so you can find it just as easily. About that time: Only AirTag can use Apple’s ultra-wide band. So you see the GPS location, but you have to look for the audio there.
The Pebblebee card is also rechargeable with a magnetic charger, though it lasts about a year and a half on a single charge. This is great, because you can discard a tile card when it is empty. The Pebblebee also has a clip that works similarly and is therefore also rechargeable: this is for your keys or bag. The Pebblebee card and clip costs €28, or €52 for two people and €93 for four people.
Eufy Security SmartTrack Card
Another good card for your wallet, it also works with the Apple Find My network. This option has an extra trick: a button that makes your iPhone ring, even when it’s on silent. You have to install the Eufy app, but it’s useful if you have your wallet, but can’t find your phone.
Unfortunately, the battery on this card is not replaceable, but according to Eufy, it will last a good three years. At €30, the card is as expensive as competitors, which promise not to last long.
Chipolo
Chipolo’s trackers also work with Apple’s Find My network, but only trackers from the Spot line. This includes the KEYRING MODEL, ONE, for €34, the CARD, for €39, and there is a bundle: ONE CARD, 2 KEYRINGS for €90 – a good deal.
Coming soon: Google Find My Trackers
In this list, you mainly see trackers that work well for users with an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. What about the rest? Well, that will change soon. Google has a Find My network similar to Apple’s, which already works with Android devices. But soon, these types of Bluetooth trackers will be able to take advantage of this, just like with Apple. And then you also have a huge search network.
Chipolo And Babylibee Android versions of the trackers we mention on this list are coming soon, at the same price as the Apple version. These trackers can now be pre-ordered.
