There was a lot of criticism about the Bears’ offensive game plan in their 34-14 loss to the Rams at Sunday Night Football, as Chicago’s offensive on the field was not present.
The Bears pounded the ball down David Montgomery and relied on short, quick passes from quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton’s longest pass attempt was 16 yards, and he never completed a pass more than 10 yards. In fact, only 5 of his 38 attempts were for distances of 10 yards or more.
There was a lot of frustration from fans. But there was a quote from wide receiver Marquis Goodwin, who has signed with the Bears this season, about the Bears’ approach against cornerback Galen Ramsey that was quite expressive. In fact, you could say that this was a direct shot of Nagy.
“He’s a unique player, All-Pro, Pro Bowler, instinctive, especially in the short spaces. And we don’t go 10 yards, that went right into his hands I feel.”
As you can imagine, Twitter had a huge reaction to Goodwin’s comments, in which many wondered if Nagy had actually lost the locker room after the first week.
I didn’t have a single game to lose in the locker room, but it was that bad – if they lose on Sunday, it’s court by week three and I don’t trust HC. https://t.co/znFlrzCesX

This looks like a straight take on Matt Nagy.
And if Goodwin is willing to make that comment public, he’s probably not the only player in that locker room who feels this way. https://t.co/iyfjxn03em

It’s like we’ve played right on our defensive strengths.
Also, it saved me from the “Andy Dalton can’t throw deep” bullshit. He’s done this a lot throughout his career.

This really begs the question “what the hell are we doing here?” They have already deviated from the proposed “Mahomes plan” by placing JF1 on and off.
Also, make no mistake, the players and the dressing room know the problems and who is the best. This can be ugly and fast. https://t.co/0uwbp9uvxB

I think Nagy might end up being a toast. This is not good. When was the last time you remember a player directly shouting about the scheme… I think it rhymes with “messman” https://t.co/1Pnr7tKxKC

When newly signed WRs actually tweet your offensive blueprint (and proxy QB), you know the locker room wants to see the fields.
The doomsday clock will likely be 11:35 p.m., if not later. https://t.co/Pj6lxLw2Wy

Here to populate the entire list on the technical staff. Until someone discovers someone wearing a headset or it’s boxed, hold it down https://t.co/puLLiC4qOD

The attack on Nagy and Dalton has already begun.
We all knew that was the way things would go down.
Marquis Goodwin and Damier Bird must finish running tracks 5 yards from the line of scrimmage to throw the connecting body into the prison. https://t.co/PzJ8Ts8uiv
