It is not clear which candidates will participate and how far the talks have gone. “The reboot is very concrete with various serious nominees,” is one thing the secretaries say. “We will not go public until after the sale.”
Reports are circulating on the Internet that there will be interest from a German company. Bike manufacturers Giant and Trek will also have their eyes on the bankrupt company.
bankruptcy
The company, known for its amazing e-bikes, was declared bankrupt earlier this week. VanMoof could no longer pay the bills and could not find new investors.
It was first checked whether the company could restart, but it was soon found that it was not possible. VanMoof stores are closed, with bikes brought in for repairs on occasion.
Expensive parts, many repairs
Brothers Taco and Tez Carlier founded the company in 2009 to make the “perfect city bike”. The bikes have attracted attention mainly because of their simple design.
Since many of the parts were made exclusively for VanMoof, it required a significant investment. This also resulted in more repair work than the company was counting on.
