A new development in the case of Madi McCann's disappearance: the suspect is a suspect | abroad

A man in Germany has been officially identified as a suspect in the disappearance of British girl Madeleine (Maddie) McCann, who disappeared 15 years ago during a family vacation in Portugal. The Portuguese public prosecutor had asked the German authorities to do so.

German police said in 2020 they were investigating a German man already in prison in connection with the disappearance of McCann, who was three years old at the time of her disappearance. According to the German newspaper picture It is the same person, although this has not been confirmed by the authorities. Christian B, a German pedophile previously mentioned in the case, will be in custody.

German authorities have been claiming for a few years to have evidence of Madi’s murder. The decision to officially designate Christian B as a suspect may have something to do with the fact that a fifteen-year statute of limitations is in force in Portugal.

Madeleine McCann, better known as Madi, disappeared on May 3, 2007 in Praia da Luz, a coastal town in southern Portugal, where she was vacationing with her parents and a group of friends. Her disappearance sparked a massive international campaign to find Madi. Pictures of the little girl, with her curly light brown hair and big eyes, went viral around the world.

After a 14-month investigation, in which even the parents were suspected for some time, the Portuguese police closed the case in 2008, only to reopen it five years later. The case only gained momentum in 2020, when the German public prosecutor announced that it was certain that Madi had died and that a 43-year-old man was seen as the prime suspect.
