Two more accusations followed in the following days. A 23-year-old said that the presenter sent money several times and that the two saw each other several times during the corona lockdown. A fourth person spoke of “scary and dirty messages” sent by the presenter via Instagram. This person was seventeen years old at the time.
Meanwhile, many of the bidders’ names were gone. Well-known names to the BBC such as Gary Lineker, Jeremy Vine, Rylan Clarke and Nicky Campbell felt compelled to make it clear that they had nothing to do with the case. The British government demanded clarification on Sunday.
It was announced on Wednesday that the presenter accused of (sexual) misconduct is 61-year-old Edwards. This was revealed by his wife in a statement that was also prepared on behalf of the presenter. Edwards has worked in British Radio since 1984 and is best known for it BBC News. It was announced in September that Queen Elizabeth had died.
