The Dodge Charger from the TV series Dukes of Hazzard crashed in Missouri this week. This time, however, the car wasn’t being driven by guys named Bo and Luke.
1969 Dodge Charger, which according to West Taney County Sheriff’s Department It was used during filming of the original TV series “Dukes of Hazzard,” and was involved in a one-vehicle car accident in Missouri this past weekend. Police said two people in the car sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
Did not crash from jumping the bridge
According to Hollister Police Chief Preston Schmidt, it was established that “the driver of the vehicle was accelerating to the circumstances and that he had lost control of the vehicle he was driving”. Pictures released by the Western Tane County Fire Protection District show the muscle car left the road and crashed into a tree. (text continues below image)
Photos of the wreck show the signatures of the Dukes of Hazzard champions, but the owner told local media that his car was not used in the series. However, all the heroes could have driven the car. The original TV series aired on CBS between 1979 and 1985, and the Hollywood movie followed in 2005. While many of the cars were destroyed during filming, some survived filming and were later sold to private owners.
Between 250 and 330 cars were demolished during filming
Estimates of the number of cars built for the original TV series range from about 250 to 330, while about 25 were made for the 2005 movie. In 1991, Warner Brothers Films sold 17 of the cars to private owners. The 1969 orange Dodge Charger with black 01 graphics on the doors is one of the most iconic movie cars in history, but the car has also been the subject of controversy in recent years due to the Confederate flag on the roof.
