Ubisoft’s upcoming XDefiant shooter is no longer called Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. The publisher has decided to drop the Tom Clancy brand, as the game also features factions unrelated to the Tom Clancy franchise.
Ubisoft writes in A Articles That XDefiant is still in the works and that there will be ‘internal sessions’ soon. Presumably, these are the first alpha tests of the game. In the letter, Ubisoft also announced that the game will not be branded Tom Clancy and will simply be called XDefiant.
This selection was made based on the factions that Ubisoft has added to the game. According to the publisher, there are factions in the game that are not part of the Tom Clancy universe. That is why Ubisoft has decided not to provide the game with this rating.
Become XDefiant last year announce As a free multiplayer shooting game. In the game, teams of six compete on the battlefields. At that time, four factions were announced to which the characters could belong: Outcasts, Echelon, Cleaners and Wolves. These factions are inspired by factions from The Division and Ghost Recon. So far more factions have been added.
It is not yet clear when the game will be released. However, those who are interested can Sign Up For test sessions to experience the game. The game will be released on as many platforms as possible and should be released for PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and for PC.
