King Carl Gustaf of Sweden will celebrate a special anniversary on September 15, 2023. He will be on the throne for 50 years. For this occasion, the 77-year-old king is organizing a banquet to which members of the royal family from all over Europe have been invited. But unfortunately, this king has to cancel due to health reasons.
The guest list for the festive banquet in honor of the memory of Carl Gustav is well stocked. However, there was still one seat empty at the dinner, due to a member of the royal family canceling. Want to know who was invited? Then click here for invited guests.

Mette-Marit suffers from a type of pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic lung disease that prevents her from performing all her official duties. So she also has to miss this fun event with her neighbors in Sweden. The sick leave will reportedly last for two weeks, meaning she will also have to cancel visits scheduled for next week.
Prince Haakon does not have to go to Sweden alone
As far as we know, Crown Prince Haakon is traveling to Sweden without his wife. He is not alone, because he is accompanied by his parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja. It is not known whether his daughter, Ingrid Alexandra, will take her mother’s place at dinner.
