The experts have already seen it, it’s the Audi Sport Quattro. One from 1985, to be exact, with only 85,000 kilometers on the odometer. It has been restored and is for sale in Leeuwarden.

Homogeneity model

The Sport Quattro is a homologated model. Audi had to build a number of road cars in order to compete in the World Rally Championship with a shortened version of the quattro rally car.

Reportedly, around 220 examples of the Sport Quattro were manufactured, of which only 160 were sold to individuals. They have a 2.1-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine under the hood.

The entire block is located in front of the front axle and its power in output form is 306 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The rally cars produced a maximum power of 500 hp, especially in S1 Evolution form.

Audi 80 windshield

Unlike other homologation specials, such as the Lancia 037 Stradale and Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, the Audi Sport Quattro was not assembled in a hurry (and in a very slow way). Even its interior design is very beautiful.

Funny detail: The Sport Quattro has the windshield of the Audi 80, which is slightly more vertical than that of the ur-Quattro. This was a request from Audi drivers who suffered the repercussions of the latter.

Reducing negligence?

Audi tried to take the unguided driver out of the quattro rally with a shortened sports version, but this was only successful to a limited extent. Not all factory drivers were impressed with the device.

As a road car, the Sport Quattro is of course much less extreme, but no less exciting. It has old-fashioned turbo lag, but easily cruises to 100km/h in less than 5 seconds.
