The weather gets better on your Samsung phone (Android 14)

Many Samsung phones will soon receive Android 14, an improved update weatherApplication installations. It offers much more information than previous versions – and is more flexible to use.

When R&D teams once came up with the first smartphones, one of the first thoughts about their usefulness was:So you know if it’s going to rain!But a few features have always been a core part of the software throughout its run weather-Applications (shout out to HTC’s classic weather widget). Is there anything that can be improved here? Yes. Because soon in Android 14 and One UI 6, you will get a huge improvement weatherThe app on your Galaxy phone or tablet.

As you can already read in the overview of all the new features in One UI 6, the weatherThe application has been improved in four areas. First of all, there are the instruments that should more clearly indicate whether there will be a storm, snow or snow. These are the things you want to be aware of, after all.

The situation is also improving weatherThe application itself, which will simply display more information. For example, moon phases, dew point, and visibility have been added. Now the app also reports air pressure and wind direction.

The Air Quality Index LKI is not new, but until One UI 5 it was still called AQI – Air Quality Index on Dutch Galaxy phones. Additionally, the LKI has been given a more prominent place in the app, no longer hanging almost at the bottom of the screen.

Freedom to choose the location

What’s more, there’s a new way to choose where to go weather-app and -widgets display information. Until Android 13 and One UI 5, you have to enter the city name. Once you find it, you can add it to your app or widget.

From Android 14 and One UI 6, you can point directly on the map to your location – or the location you want to follow weather information from. It is no longer necessary to search by place name:

So you can use them if your phone or tablet upgrades to this new software version later this year.
