Authorities say they want to force international travelers to have a corona test a day before departure for the United States. Currently, vaccinated U.S. travelers are required to have a negative test three days prior to departure. For non-vaccinated Americans and others permanently residing in the United States, the test can now be no longer than one day. With some exceptions, other non-vaccinated persons will not be allowed on board.

The move stems from a global concern about the Omigron variant. According to the CDC, the US health agency, the rule will be announced when it is finalized. President Joe Biden will announce the U.S. winter plan against Corona on Thursday with new requirements for travelers. A few weeks ago, the United States eased travel restrictions on dozens of countries.

The Washington Post reports that authorities are considering a three- or five-day review of passengers. Even after a negative test, everyone has a week of isolation.
