The Packers are making a flurry of moves heading into the season finale against the Bears

Saturday, The Green Bay Packers announced Five roster moves as the team prepares for a win-win matchup against their rival, Chicago Bears. Among those movements were two activations from the injured reserve.

Both Luke Musgrave (kidney) and running back Emanuel Wilson (shoulder) were transferred to the 53-man roster from the injured list. Musgrave, the team’s starting tight end, tore his kidney against Los Angeles Chargers In Week 11 – the same game in which Wilson injured his shoulder. Wilson’s activation appears important due to AJ Dillon’s thumb injury. On Friday, the Packers officially ruled out Dillon against the Bears, meaning a combination of Wilson and Patrick Taylor will back up Aaron Jones on Sunday.

To make room for the promotions of Musgrave and Wilson, the Packers released cornerback David Long Jr. They placed safety Rudy Ford on injured reserve. Long, a previous third-round pick in 2019, was claimed off waivers by Green Bay in Week 13. With cornerback Jaire Alexander assuming healthy, the team should no longer think they need an extra body in this Center.

Ford had an interesting season, starting nine games in 2023 but has recently been passed over on the depth chart by several safeties. Over the past two weeks, he has played a total of seven defensive snaps. For reference, he played 26 special teams reps. On this week’s injury report, he was listed as out of practice with a hamstring injury.

The Packers’ latest move on Saturday was to elevate rookie receiver Grant DuBose to the gameday roster. He was originally drafted by the practice squad in the seventh round and will have his first opportunity to play this season versus the Bears.

Currently, Jayden Reed (chest), Christian Watson (hamstring), and Dontaveon Weeks (chest) are all listed as questionable for Chicago. With Samori Torre now on injured reserve with a knee injury, the Packers’ healthy receivers on the 53-man roster are limited to Romeo Dobbs, Malik Heath and Bo Milton.
