Due to lack of capacity, Drenthe’s electricity grid has become congested. This affects families, businesses as well as the football club in Paez. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, because the construction of two new power plants began today in Terre Appelkanal.

“We as a board of directors have been working on moving the sports house to Pez for almost eight years,” sighs Harm Jan Dancker, president of Pez Football Club. “And now it is there and we cannot use it.”

Danker boasts the ‘Very Sporty Peize’ home, but can’t really enjoy the modern accommodations yet. “There is only a building connection for a radiant heater,” he says. “We can’t open the Sports House like this.”

Unfortunately, there is an upcoming tournament for the first team of Al-Ittihad. “We’ll actually celebrate it in the old cafeteria,” says Danker. “Enexis told us they would deliver power in the second quarter of 2024. We were hoping to get word that they would deliver on April 1, but it could also be June 30. We will wait and see.” If so, Enexis will deliver More than six months after the agreed upon date.
