Google Pixel 7
Google’s new Pixel 7 is a great phone for a bargain price. The compact and water-resistant body made of glass and metal is designed more attractively than Galaxy S21 FE.
Thanks to the excellent image processing that Google is famous for, you can take excellent photos. This one doesn’t have a telephoto camera, but thanks to clever software tricks, it’s still possible to zoom in a bit. Macro is not included.
Android 13 comes into its own on this device, with a famously clean interface with no extra apps or frills. The device also comes with the promise of long and regular software updates: until October 2027.
For the money, the specs aren’t the most luxurious. We already mentioned the missing camera and the 128GB storage of the cheaper model is disappointing too. The screen refreshes at “only” 90Hz and the system performance is somewhat lower, as is the loading speed. The Pixel 7 has good battery life.
OPPO Find X5
The price of the OPPO Find X5 has dropped slightly in recent months, so it now costs the same as the Pixel 7. In a direct comparison, the OPPO phone has some pluses. For example, the working memory and storage are more spacious with 8GB and 256GB respectively.
The Snapdragon 888 chip is faster and the camera system is more fancy. In addition to the telephoto camera, the smartphone has a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus, which makes the Find X5 the only one of these three to take beautiful macro photos.
The Find X5 charges very quickly and the battery life is excellent as well. The 120Hz screen is well-tuned, but it lacks some brightness compared to the competition. It’s also a pity that the luxuriously designed housing isn’t waterproof.
The software will continue to be supported until February 2026, if the device is running Android 15. So it’s not quite as good as the competition.
