According to the rumor maker, the next generation of video cards from Nvidia will consume much more power. Moore-Mate’s Law and Igor’s Lab, among others, claim that the alleged RTX 4090 will have 600 watts, which is a third more than 450 watts than the RTX 3090 Ti. In some cases, there is talk of at least 850 watts, although this seems somewhat unlikely so far.
According to Kopite7kimi, Nvidia is already experimenting with a high-end video card based on the AD102, which will consume at least 900 watts. This beta version is said to come with 48GB, 24Gbps memory and two 12V power sockets. Given the large amount of gddr6x, the green team will likely want to introduce Titan cards again. The leaker adds that it is not certain that Nvidia will bring this model to market.
In addition, Kopite7kimi has shared more information about the RTX 4080 and 4070. The former will use the AD103 chip with 16GB gddr6x capacity, while its younger brother will combine an AD104 GPU with 12GB gddr6 GPU and a power consumption of 300W. In the case of the RTX 4080, a Twitter user mentions a tgp similar to the Ampere-based GA102. This is supposed to refer to the RTX 3090 Ti, which uses a fully-enabled GA102 GPU and has a tbp of 450 watts.
