Fortunately, this program is no longer the crap it once was.
Yes indeed. Recently completely removed it and then started using OpenRGB and FanControl. I feel no pain and can control everything on my Kraken X62 and HUE+ that I used to do with CAM, but those two programs are stable.
The reason was that NZXT CAM was causing 10-25% CPU load at idle on the 5800X3D. During gaming it is usually higher.
I emailed NZXT at the time. I received the reply:
We apologize for the issue you are experiencing with our CAM software. We have investigated the issue you describe but do not have a solution yet. We will be sure to log this bug with the CAM team so that a fix can be implemented in a future update.
But in reality my size was full and I deleted it from my computer after that email. I have had countless problems with this program, including:
– Constantly having to log back in after raising the account requirements because the camera apparently thought I had an account.
– CPU load monitoring which almost always indicates “minimum load” as the heaviest process while I had 70% load in the game
– Disk space used tool that puts N/A on all drives
– The necessary camera crashes when I start my computer, and this can only be fixed by restarting
– FPS overlay not working or crashing my game
– Reinstallation is required frequently if Kraken or Hue+ is suddenly not detected after rebooting.
– I suddenly forgot my full lighting settings and fan curves.
I’ve had all these problems over the past year. CAM is really bad.
What’s also very sad about the CAM is that the CPU fan RPM readings on the home screen don’t work with the Kraken. Then it says N/A. With them AIO Private Reading the fan RPM in the app you install to control the AIO not working. It is not implemented, while there are many people who do not have this program only because of their squatting position.
There is also no fluid temperature or pump RPM on the main screen. That gets to the point, but that is the main screen. less The info shows up with an expensive first party water cooler compared to a generic CPU fan? Great.
