"Nvidia RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 are much more economical than expected"

Twitterer Kopite7kimi once again provided an update to the specifications of Nvidia’s upcoming Lovelace video cards. For example, the leaker notes that the so-called RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 will be more economical than originally thought. The RTX 4080 will get 320 watts, while the RTX 4070 will consume up to 285 watts. This is 24 and 5% less, respectively, than what was said in previous rumors.

According to Kopite7kimi, the reduced power limit should provide more margin for overclocking.

Although the power consumption appears to be much lower, Kopite7kimi claims that the expected level of performance remains about the same. In terms of 3DMark Time Spy Extreme scores, the RTX 4070 is very close to the RTX 3090 Ti, while the RTX 4080 is about a third more powerful than the flagship Ampere in this synthetic test.

The chance of these GPUs coming to market before the end of this year seems rather slim. For now, it looks like Nvidia will unveil the RTX 4090 in October, while the launch of its smaller siblings has been pushed back until early 2023.
