Nvidia releases plug-ins to make it easier to implement DLSS 3 in games – Games – News

Nvidia will soon be releasing plugins that will make it easier for developers to add DLSS 3 Frame Generation to their games. The feature will be available for Unreal Engine 5.2 and via the Nvidia Streamline framework. DLSS 3 also comes with some new games.

writes nvidia announced that its DLSS 3 plug-in for Unreal Engine 5.2 will debut at GDC. This conference for game developers will take place the week of March 20th. Epic Games previously hinted at the arrival of Unreal Engine 5.2 during GDC. The add-on should enable developers using this engine version to implement the feature directly in their titles. Nvidia previously provided DLSS 2 plug-ins for Unreal Engine.

DLSS 3 will also be available online Nvidia simplified, a framework that makes it easy for developers to add upgrades to their games. Streamlining exists between the game engine and APIs such as DirectX and Vulkan and should facilitate the implementation of technologies such as DLSS. Moreover, DLSS 3 will be added to many games. The feature will appear on March 28 via an update to the PC version of Forza Horizon 5. The PC versions of Redfall and Diablo IV will also get the built-in feature when those games launch on May 2 and June 6, respectively.

Nvidia announced DLSS 3 in September last year. Like DLSS 2, this feature provides upscaling, which renders the game at a lower resolution and then upscales it. This should ensure higher frame rates with minimal quality loss. However, the news is DLSS Frame Generation, which interpolates the “new” frames onto RTX 40 video cards. Tweakers have previously written seminal stories about running upscaling technologies like DLSS and about running DLSS Frame Generation.
