New Microsoft Surface Dock replaces original Thunderbolt 4 connector – PC – News

Microsoft introduces a new version of Surface Dock. This time around, the docking station gets USB-C connectivity with Thunderbolt 4, where previous versions had a Surface Connect connection. The dock will be available immediately for 366 euros.

The dock features three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A connectors and three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support. The dock also has a port for 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet and a 3.5 mm jack for audio. The base can charge the device attached to it up to 96 watts. Works via USB Power Delivery. The dock appears to be much thinner than the company’s current Surface Dock 2.

Thus, the new device is more expensive than the company’s previous Surface docks, which only work with Microsoft’s own Surface devices via Surface Connect. The tech giant says its existing Surface Dock 1 and 2 will also continue to be available, as will the Microsoft USB-C Travel Hub.
